Machinery operations will play a vital role in the delivery of these works and experienced machine operators are welcomed.
At times you will be working alone patrolling, inspecting and carrying out minor repairs, whilst reporting and keeping records updated.
Working within the Parks and Countryside Operations team, your role will primarily help to ensure our open spaces are safe and pleasant places to visit and able to positively contribute to relevant council promises and outcomes.

An opportunity has arisen for a hard working individual to work within the Housing Rents Team in Housing & Community Safety.
You will need excellent time management skills and a high level of numeracy and literacy skills as you will be required to manage a caseload of credits, adjustments, direct debits and rent queries and will write to tenants about financial information and calculate refunds and adjustments. We are looking for an individual who will be able to work on their own initiative and work to deadlines, so the ability to be self-motivated and focused is also essential.
You will require excellent negotiation and communication skills as you will collaborate closely with both the Housing Rent Team and Revenues & Benefit departments to deliver the Rent Accounting and Former Tenant functions in line with policy and procedures, ensuring customer accounts are accurate and up to date. You will require a good understanding of debt recovery protocols and have exceptional IT skills to manage the rent accounting processes and operate the IT systems effectively.
It is important that all work is undertaken in accordance with legislation, policy and guidance so a knowledge of how local authorities operate would be beneficial but not essential.
The post holder will be required to represent the council in court proceedings for all revenues types so attention to detail and experience of working to deadlines and following strict protocols would be essential.

Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Basildon Council to recruit to a Tenancy Services Officer.
The Tenancy and Estate Management Team are responsible for tenancy audits, tenancy breaches (subletting, abandonment, condition of home, nuisance behaviours), detection of fraud, amenity maintenance and management of the Council’s housing estates. They play a vital role ensuring the housing stock is safe and tenants are supported in sustaining their tenancies
The Tenancy Officer is the primary point of contact with tenants of the Council’s housing stock in relation to tenancy and estate matters. They will work as part of a team mostly within a defined geographical area, but will support all tenants across the borough when required. The post holder will play a key role in supporting the Councils objectives within the Safe and Sound project to improve the environmental aspect and community involvement on our estates.
Listening to our tenants and acting decisively on their feedback is a priority for the Council. The Tenancy Officer will play a key role in facilitating this engagement function often representing the Council at resident led meetings and events.

Basildon Borough Council is looking for a Support Officer to work as part of The Activity Centres Team within Health & Leisure Services Department. The Support Officer will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the Centres by supporting the Activity Centres Coordinator and providing appropriate support to the Committees with an adaptable and developmental outlook to all work areas. An opportunity has arisen for a hard-working individual to work within the Housing Allocations Team. This team is part of the Housing Needs Department (the strategic housing service) and sits within the Rehousing Team.
The Allocations Team primary function is the responsibility for the allocation of Basildon Council permanent and temporary housing stock, nominations to our partner Registered Providers (RP), and administering all special schemes in strict accordance with the Housing Act 1996 (as amended), Localism Act 2011, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and the Councils approved allocation scheme.
The post holder will work in a customer centred, multi-disciplinary frontline allocation team delivering high quality advice and guidance to applicants in helping them make choices on homes and ensuring the smooth running of the Councils Choice based lettings scheme, including: maintenance of records, advertising properties, liaison with partners and Registered Providers (RPs), shortlisting of applicants for allocation and ensuring available properties are advertised and allocated to within a strict timescale.
The post holder will also lead on decant projects, monitoring and managing the housing applications of the tenants due to be decanted ensuring the timescales set to 'decant' tenants are maintained to avoid any delay to redevelopment schemes.

The George Herd Centre are looking for an individual to join the Catering Team in the smooth running of all day-to-day operations of its kitchen. You will be the first point of call for customers and your primary goal is to give them an excellent customer experience by being welcoming, helpful, accurate, timely, and knowledgeable.
As a member of the team, the Catering Assistant will be responsible for the preparation and presentation of a variety of pre-cooked, frozen, microwavable meals and desserts. Members of the Activity Centre and members of the general public will be able to access the hot meals service at the George Hurd Centre which is located in Audley Way, Basildon.
