About the Role
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Lawyer (Band 9) to join our vibrant Legal Services team. If you are a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEx Fellow with solid experience and a passion for litigation and governance, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

About the Role We are looking for a strategic and solution-focused Principal Lawyer and Manager (Corporate) to lead and inspire a team of legal professionals within our Corporate Services Directorate. An exciting opportunity has arisen to be our new Housing Options and Domestic Abuse Manager. This challenging but rewarding role will see you at the centre of delivering our statutory duties to families facing or experiencing homelessness.
As an expert in homelessness caselaw and legislation, you will lead your team of Housing Options and Domestic Abuse Officers to prevent and relieve homelessness and reduce the use of temporary accommodation.
You will ensure uninterrupted service delivery, providing line management to your team.
You will also be a creative problem solver, generating new and innovative ideas to address and prevent homelessness. Working with other internal and external teams to create lasting, positive change to the lives of our residents, you will help us deliver the Government ambition that homelessness is brief, rare and non-recurring.

Community Safety Enforcement Officer (x 4 positions)

We are looking for Community Safety Enforcement Officers to join our team. This role will be at the frontline of improving community safety combining proactive enforcement with meaningful engagement to reduce anti-social behaviour and increase public confidence.
You will need to be assertive, and able to deal with conflict and confrontation calmly and professionally, taking a zero-tolerance approach to individuals persistently perpetrating anti-social behaviour.
You will be able to balance enforcement with empathy, always aiming for long term resolution and community reassurance.
You will have demonstrable experience working in a similar role and have a strong sense of public service and a genuine commitment to community safety.

We are looking for an Electoral Services Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the planning and conduct of all polls held in Basildon Borough Council. Managing a small team, you will lead on all matters relating to electoral services, including delivering the annual canvass, ensuring that all statutory duties are met in accordance with legislation and other relevant guidance. You will lead on key elements of delivery with the development, implementation of modern ways of working and professional best practice.
Basildon does have hybrid working; however, during elections and canvass periods the job is predominately office based.

The candidate will preferably have:
The Certificate in Electoral Administration from the AEA Experience of working in an Electoral Services Team at a senior level delivering projects to strict legal deadlines and under pressure.
