The borough of Basildon is alive with opportunity and has the ingredients to be one of the most successful and desirable places in the South East. As the largest economy in the Thames Estuary outside London, we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved but we are never complacent. We are driving inclusive, sustainable growth to provide opportunity and prosperity for local people and businesses, access to quality homes, vibrant town centres and an enhanced local environment.
A unique opportunity has arisen for a Male Domestic Abuse Housing Navigator to join the South Essex Domestic Abuse Hub at Basildon Council in an exciting new role. There is a competitive salary on offer of dependent on qualifications and experience. The South Essex Domestic Abuse Hub have been operating as a one stop shop service for all survivors of domestic abuse since 2017, covering areas such as housing, legal, advocacy and financial support.
Whilst currently working remotely, there will be an expectation for some office-based working within Basildon Council. We are looking for a resourceful, passionate individual who will be working at the very forefront of service design from a male survivor experience. To date there has been very little research surrounding a male survivor's requirement of a domestic abuse service and we want to change that. Experience within a housing environment is a necessity for this role along with extensive knowledge of domestic abuse, including safety planning, the civil justice system and the undertaking of DASH risk assessments. This may suit someone with a background in the Police, Probation Service or such like.
