As part of the council’s ongoing commitment to protecting and enhancing ecologically important sites and supporting the green and growing within the borough, the Parks and Countryside service is looking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced Countryside Supervisor.
Working within the Parks and Countryside Operations team, you will supervise a team of 8 to maintain and develop a number of countryside sites including 4 Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and 10 local nature reserves. You will need to support a number of friends groups and society’s to help you achieve the aims of each site. Your role will help to ensure compliance with the council’s statutory responsibilities for managing protected sites and meeting the management aims of the countryside stewardship agreement.You will bring consistency to the management of biodiversity across the borough, working alongside the Biodiversity Officer to maximise opportunities for improvements to the natural environment.

The council has already taken steps to make changes and introduce new initiatives to positively contribute to improving biodiversity within the borough. With your knowledge and experience of ecological/ habitat management and conservation issues you will play a pivotal role in delivering effective land management practices and partnership working to produce the desired outcomes.
